Enjoy a better financial future

It’s a win-win. More super for later, and potential tax savings now.

What’s a Post-Tax Contribution?

It’s simply extra money you put into your super from your after-tax income (like from your bank account).

The good news? You may be able to claim a tax deduction, which could mean less tax to pay this year.2, 3

How it works

  • Make a contribution to your super account before 4pm, 26 June 2025.
  • Fill out a "Notice of Intent to Claim" form (don’t worry, it’s quick).
  • Claim your tax deduction when you do your tax return. Return the form to virginsuper@mercer.com or upload the form in the Contact Us section in your online account no later than the day you lodge your 2024/25 financial year tax return, or by 30 June 2026 – whichever date comes first.2, 3, 4

Let’s break it down (a simple example)

  • Say you earn $50,000 and contribute $1,000 to your super.
  • Your taxable income drops to $49,000, so you pay less tax.
  • If your tax rate is 30%, you could get a tax saving of ~$300.
  • Your super fund only taxes this contribution at 15%, so more of your money stays invested for the future.

That’s extra money back in your pocket now-and more super for later.
